You don't want to read this, and i don't want to write it. the subject of navigation lights is boring, but if you read this, it just might save your life.. 31. dirt cheap fifty-two foot dream yacht! should we buy? - sailing vessel somnium - duration: 13:09. learning the lines 808,333 views. The navigation lights were working 2 weeks ago, but then last night the switch wouldn't light up and no lights would come on. all the other switches worked except that one. i tried to see if the connection was loose behind the switch but everything seems tight..
The nav lights work and the anchor light works and all the gauges work. but if i turn on the nav lights, the gauges react funny - no gauge lights come on and the fuel gauge will peg full and the voltmeter pegs far left to zero or whatever.. Get a decent multimeter. its a must if you are going to trouble shoot any electrical stuff on the boat, car, house, etc. turn of the lights and start at the bulb socket. if you got juice there, voila. bad bulb or connection. you can also check the resistance of the bulb. if you don't have any juice you can work your way back till you find 12v.. Re: bow and stern lights don't work i'd start with a multimeter or 12v test light at the back of the switch. neg lead to a known good ground. one terminal on the back of the switch should be hot whether switch is on or off. if not start working back toward fuse box..
